a full circle moment...
I realized on this trip that the first time I was in the Florida Keys in 2012 was just a few short months before making my first big camera purchase that started it all. I remember going on vacation with my little Sony point and shoot and having the best time taking photos all week, especially of the beautiful sunsets. Little did I know 12 years later I would end up back there capturing my first destination wedding.

a few shots from my point and shoot in 2012

how it started
I shot Madison and Dawson's proposal and a couple of months later shot their engagement photos. I remember them chatting with me about their wedding planning process and their struggles with finding a photographer while being so far away from the physical location. I had suggested chatting with the venue for preferred vendors, etc. and when I got home, realized I may have missed an opportunity to offer myself as an option. I beat myself up over that for days, and then a few weeks later, I received a text from them inquiring about the possibility of me traveling to shoot their wedding. I can honestly still remember what my face looked like when I received that text, and my 2012 self would've never believed this was reality. Actually, I don't think my 2023 self believed it either!
The wedding took place at Largo Resort in the northernmost Key - a beautiful, tropical location right on the water. Madison and Dawson got married right by the water and had their reception nearby with an amazing sunset view. However, we started out the day in a gorgeous bungalow with huge windows and natural light with a breathtaking view of where everything would take place later in the day.

After getting ready, we had first looks planned for Madison and her dad, and Madison and Dawson. It was getting pretty hot out there, so we found some shade with some of the palm trees to set the scene. I never take for granted that I get to capture these intimate moments, and this is just another example of how special first looks can be ♡
After first looks, family photos, and bridal party photos, I had some time to grab shots of Madison and Dawson.

Everyone had some time to cool off, and then we headed to the ceremony on the water with cocktail hour to follow.
The reception did NOT disappoint. After entrances, we moved into dances and speeches. Then dinner was served with a gorgeous view of the water as the sun started to set.
First dance vibes ♡
Madison sharing a sweet moment with her dad during their father daughter dance.
Dawson and his mom sharing some laughs during their mother son dance.
Madison and Dawson enjoying speeches from some of their closest friends and family.
Following dinner, we were able to sneak away and grab some sunset portraits. The sunset absolutely lived up to the expectations and we grabbed some of my favorite shots of the day.

After sunset photos, Madison and Dawson did their cake cutting and shortly after, the party began.
What is a Florida wedding without someone jumping in the pool during the reception? Well not only did someone jump in the pool, Madison and her bridesmaids took a swim, and so did Dawson and his groomsmen (and some other family members). This was honestly one of the best moments of the night!
The night closed out with more dancing and endless memories ♡

I've probably said it a million times, but I can't thank Madison and Dawson enough for choosing me to capture their day and giving me the opportunity of a lifetime. This has always been a dream of mine but never one that I thought would become a reality. I'm so grateful that I get to live a life like this, and I love that I get to be a part of so many amazing chapters in all of your lives.
Thank you x10000.
